On July 3, 1971, Jim Morrison of the Doors, died in the bathtub of his Paris apartment that he shared with his girlfriend, Pamela Courson. The pair had gone to the movies the night before and came home and went to sleep. Courson woke up to discover Morrison choking and slapped him till he awoke, at which he then proceeded to vomit blood. Courson suggested calling a doctor but Morrison declined, saying he was feeling better and wanted to take a bath. Courson went back to sleep and woke up the next morning and discovered the singer unconscious in the bathtub. She called a friend and later the paramedics who tried to revive the singer unsuccessfully. No autopsy was done and the exact cause of death is still disputed but the most common theory is heroin overdose. Morrison was 27 years old.
