In 1972, Aerosmith went into Boston’s Intermedia Studios and recorded their debut self-titled album.   The album included the iconic song, “Dream On.”  “Dream On” was released as a single on June 27, 1973 and reached #59 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was then re-released as a single in 1976, doing much better, reaching #6 on the charts. It is generally regarded as one of the most popular classic rock songs of all time.

By 1980, another Boston group, The Cars, purchased the studio, renovated and renamed the studio Synchro Sound. The group recorded their album Shake It Up there.

Today the building houses an American Apparel store.
