U2 – “Where The Streets Have No Name” video location
7th Street and Main Street, Los Angeles, CA
In an ode to the Beatles final rooftop concert, U2 filmed the music video for “Where The Streets Have No Name” on the roof of a downtown Los Angeles liquor store on March 27, 1987. Although the police really did threaten to shutdown the shoot as seen in the video, manager Paul McGuinness revealed that much of the confrontation was exaggerated and the group were actually hoping to get shut down in order to make the video more dramatic. The video won a Grammy Award for Best Performance Music Video.
Currently the building whose rooftop was used is occupied by Margarita’s Place, a Mexican restaurant.
