In 1974, Bruce Springsteen wrote his breakthrough hit “Born To Run” while living in this 828 square foot house at 7 ½ West End Court in Long Branch, New Jersey. The song and album by the same name was said to be Springsteen’s final attempt to break out commercially. The album, released on August 25, 1975, peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 and eventually sold six million copies.

Just a few hundred yards from the beach, three fans purchased the house for $280,000 in 2009 in order to save it from demolition. The house was re-listed for sale in 2013 with an asking price of $349,900.

Springsteen also wrote “Backstreets” and “Thunder Road” while living at the house. The Boss lived here in 1974-75. It was the first house he ever lived in by himself.
