Randy Rhoads Gravesite
570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA.
Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads died on March 19, 1982. After driving all night after a show in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Osbourne tour bus stopped in Leesburg, Florida to fix a malfunctioning air conditioning unit on the bus. On the property was an airstrip and a small Beechcraft airplane that the tour bus driver (an ex-pilot) took a few of the band members up for a quick flight. On the second flight, Rhoads, makeup artist Rachel Youngblood and the pilot Andrew Aycock all perished when the small airplane’s wings clipped the tour bus. Evidently the pilot was trying to ‘buzz’ the bus with the sleeping Osbourne inside. All three bodies were killed instantly and burned beyond recognition.
Rhoads’ funeral was held at the First Lutheran Church in Burbank, California. He was buried at the Mt. View Cemetery in San Bernardino, Ca. Ozzy Osbourne, Rudy Sarzo, Kevin Dubrow and Tommy Aldridge were among the pallbearers.
