Janis Joplin’s San Francisco Apartment

Janis Joplin's San Francisco Apartment.

Janis Joplin’s San Francisco Apartment at 122 Lyon Street.

122 Lyon Street, #3, San Francisco, CA.

Janis Joplin lived in quite a few places in San Francisco in the 1960’s but it is this Victorian house that gets the most attention due to it being listed on her driver’s license. The house is often confused with the house at 112 Lyon St. due to an error in a biography. Joplin lived in this house from June of 1967 through April 1968. The house, in the famed Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, is just 4 blocks away from the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets. The neighborhood was the center of the region’s hippie community. Other acts that lived in the neighborhood included the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane.

The house was recently listed for sale for $1.7 million.
