The historic CBGB’s club opened in 1973 in the East Village in New York, NY. It’s full name CBGB & OMFUG stood for country, bluegrass, blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers, however the club became famous for the punk rock and new wave bands that called it home such as Blondie, Patti Smith, The Ramones, the B-52’s and Talking Heads.

In 2006, the club closed due to rent increase from the landlord. Patti Smith performed the last show at the club on October 15, 2006. The location is now occupied by clothing designer John Varvatos.
